I have freshly installed ubuntu 20.04 and Budgie desktop on an Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 (AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS, 16GB ram, integrated Renoir graphics, Nvidia GeForce 1660 TI, 144Hz 1080p monitor). Everything works fine by default, but after installing proprietary Nvidia drivers (version 495), the screen flickers every second or so after sleep. When starting up, it works fine, but after going to sleep for a bit the screen starts to flicker when it wakes up again. I usually have to restart 2 or 3 times before it stops.
I have tried:
- restarting
- blacklisting nouveau
- uninstalling nouveau
- blacklisting amdgpu (which broke the computer, it would not start, and I had to reinstall ubuntu
- setting the nvidia gpu to primary gpu
- turning off secure boot
Also, in Nvidia settings, when I set the Prime profile to the ADM gpu, the flickering stops, and when I reenable the Nvidia gpu, it starts again. Additionally, the times it does flicker seem to be somewhat random, usually happening after sleep, but sometimes not, and sometimes happening at startup, but also sometimes not.
I am also dual booting windows 11 on a separate partition.
