I am experiencing an issue with a brand new Ubuntu install (kubuntu 20.04.03 LTS). I was able to successfully complete the installation of ubuntu, up until it asks me to restart the computer.
At this point after restarting, my PC would run through BIOS (I can still press F12, Del etc.), then go black as it boots Ubuntu. It will then simply display the Aorus logo and hang there. PC will not respond to BIOS shortcuts except Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.
Here is what I have done to try and resolve the issue:
- Disable CSM
- Disable Secure Boot
- Disable Fullscreen Logo (you never know)
- Install a different OS - Win10 works just fine on the drive. Yes I made sure to wipe the drive after.
- Booting the installation USB and using that to repair GRUB - unsure if successful
I suspect it is some kind of failure of GRUB to communicate with the BIOS, however it's anyone's guess at this point.
My specs are:
- AORUS B450 ELITE (BIOS is up-to-date)
- Ryzen 5600X
- NVIDIA EVGA GTX 1080SC
- 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
- 2TB Intel NVME SSD7
- Asus C88 Wifi Card
